Holden Caulfield, one of the main characters of “The Catcher in the Rye”, certainly displays behaviors and thoughts that can be viewed as disturbing. After all, the book has been banned by many schools. Caulfield is a brutally honest character in terms of his thoughts and questions. He isn’t autistic. If anything, society might label him as having ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).
